From the founderFirst, a quick personal note: the thoughts and opinions in this founder’s note are my own. I use AI to help polish my writing and communicate more clearly. I believe that’s one of its greatest benefits: helping us make better use of our time while keeping our own voice and judgment. This past week, a former Anthropic researcher’s warnings about the future of humanity sparked a serious conversation about the pace of AI advancement. I believe these concerns deserve our attention. With OpenAI’s release of GPT-6 Astra, the conversation about artificial general intelligence, or AGI, has become even more urgent. Whether we’ve reached AGI remains open to debate, but the speed of progress is hard to ignore. Several leading AI executives are now supporting calls for stronger oversight and a more carefully managed pace of development. That makes sense to me. But it raises a difficult question: if the United States slows down, will China and other countries do the same? And how do we prevent those willing to misuse AI from gaining an advantage? My view is that we need both progress and accountability, with independent testing, clear safety standards, and international cooperation. What do you think is the most sensible path forward?

Production code written by Claude should have a higher bar than if it was written by a human. At Anthropic, we have many guardrails in place to make sure this is happening: lots of lint rules, lots of tests, Claude-driven end to end tests, Claude-powered fuzzers running daily, au
